Piano & Organ Exchange in Parma wants to bring music back to family life:
What the business does: Piano & Organ Exchange located at 5530 State Rd., Parma, consists of sales of pianos, organs, and digital pianos. We also offer music instruction, print music, piano tuning, and organ repair. Also available are gift items, gift certificates, lamps, bench cushions, and much more.
Where did I get the idea for the business: I have worked in the music business for a total of 23 years. I had worked for a music store for 20 years and the owner of that store retired. I decided to continue in the business, and I now operate my own music store.
What makes my business unique: Selling pianos and organs is a very engaging part of the business. There is a great sense of self satisfaction in helping an individual choose an instrument that is going to fulfill their musical wants and needs. Teaching piano and organ is also a very gratifying task. Watching children to adults learning to play music and accomplishing their goals is very gratifying and a wonderful experience. All students are introduced to all types and styles of music. We have students of all ages and they all have their own unique personalities. Students often perform for school events, in which I help them prepare for. When my schedule permits, I enjoy attending their events in support of their performance and talent. Something unique within my business is that I maintain purchase records dating as far back as the 1950s. These records reflect pianos and organs purchased in Cleveland and many surrounding suburbs. Individuals can call and inquire about an organ or piano purchased many years ago. Many times I can retrieve the file and advise the caller as to the age and value of the instrument.
Current economic conditions and the effect on business: The music industry has definitely felt the struggles of the sluggish economy. Many school programs have also suffered cut backs, including the elimination of music from their curriculum. While some investment is needed to own and play an instrument, it is my desire to help any individual wishing to play music to find the right balance for their musical goals. My showroom has many pianos and organs to choose from that are reasonably priced, and I am open to reasonable offers.
Obstacles to overcome thus far: The busy world of today leaves families struggling to fit all activities into an already full schedule, as well as fitting in quality family time. Music is educational, therapeutic, and relaxing. It can be beneficial to many other activities in our daily lives.
Plans for near-future growth: For many years, music was part of every household. Music is something you can always keep with you throughout your life and share with others. Studies have proven that playing an instrument has many benefits. Music can add enrichment to your life and improve your quality of life. The significance of music can enhance your child's learning ability. Music exercises skills in math, reading, and listening. It can also improve physical coordination, mental concentration, creativity, and sharpens memory, visual and hearing skills. I put forth that music should always by part of our lives, both for children and adults.
New students are welcome, and my lesson fee is very reasonable. For more information, call 216-661-2270 or 440-886-5100. Feel free to visit the showroom located at 5530 State Rd., Suite #3, Parma, Ohio.
